W\u00e4hrend seines Studiums arbeitete er unter anderem f\u00fcr eine nationale Gro\u00dfkanzlei. An das Studium schloss sich eine T\u00e4tigkeit am Lehrstuhl f\u00fcr internationales und ausl\u00e4ndisches Privatrecht der Universit\u00e4t zu K\u00f6ln mit einem Forschungsaufenthalt an der Universit\u00e4t in Florenz an. In dieser Zeit verfasste er seine Dissertation zu einem Thema im Sachenrecht.
